I have had migraines for years, I have tried MANY meds including ALL the triptans, lots of preventatives, including gabapentin topamax nortryptaline celexa seroxuel and to many to remember, over 45 different meds I've been through 6 general practicing MDs, a nourolagist, a physical therapist, a neutritionist, a pain specialist, the OHSU pain specialists TEAM had TONs is X rays, Tesla 3 T3 MRIs with and without contrast, CT scans, spinal taps, TONs of blood and other lab work,and acupuncture and some more things I can't remember. Nothing has been found abnormal besides a slight vitamin d deficency whitch I'm on 50,000 units a week for. EVERY SINGLE Dr. And MD and specialist has given up and won't do anything. I'm currently on seroquel 200mg xr per day,norco 10, which I have to take 3 to 4 which is 30 to40 mg hydrocodone to get a little relief, and oxycodone which I have to take 40 mg to get just a little relief and butorphanol 10 mg/ml nasal spray, (only one of the pain meds at a time) 1 mg per spray which works on the kappa opoid receptors, the exace same as salvia, and it gives similer effects which I find verry very unplesent. I'm getting realy desperate for releif and don't know what to do, ANY tips, med sugestions, hints, advice or anything is MUCH apreciated. I am 17, 18 in 3 months, male, Caucasion/Colombian mix, 165 lbs 6'0" and have family history of migraines on my Moms/caucasion side. Any other questions just ask. Thank you!

Is there a distinct healing culture, like India has Ayurvedic medicine and China has acupuncture, herbs,etc?

Or is the practice of medicine similar to what we find in the U.S., for example?

today during my JV game, i was going out for a dive tackle and i grabbed the jersey..but my own teammate (idk who) stomped on my ankle and it's basically messed up...unfortunately, we have no depth, and i didn't want a freshmen to go in...so i played a quarter and a half with it.
it hurts like crazy now...they won't make me practice right?

also...how long will i be out for..this is my 3rd ankle sprain on this foot in a 2 year period...which idt is really good..i've gotten acupuncture before, but the trainer of my school said he's gonna take a look.

I am just wondering why so many people are against the idea of holistic health? I started getting acupuncture for back pain and while it will take a few sessions to make it go away completely it is helping A LOT, before when my shoulder hurt and I went to my general doctor she just gave me some muscle relaxers and some pain pills but she never really cured anything. Also, there are herbs that have been used for hundreds of years and have worked and yet western medicine rejects these as real cures? Why are so many people against oriental and holistic medical practices?

Or is it a widely accepted practice of alternative medicine? I am looking to become an acupuncturist and was wondering if it's covered by most insurance companies or only better than average policies? This would help me some what to determine if it's going to be a good profession to get into. Also can I work for someone, or do they generally open up their own practices?
