I know it originated in China and I know it involves sticking needles in someone's skin. But are they thinner needles? Does it hurt? Do they stick them in your skin, muscles, nerves, etc. Why does it relieve pain? How can you know if an acupuncture place is clean (other than making an appointment, hoping for the best, and getting an infection in your back a week later)?

I've had problems between my thumb and forefinger. I guess I would call it carpool tunnel or whatever.. but it cramps up once in a blue moon. The acupuncturist said that was a release point. When the needle was in there I felt a very very sharp ache and pain and started to feel a sharp pain in my chest(heart area). Acupuncturists says red is normal but sortly after the session I started to itch on my arm and it turned redish for a few minutes. The pain in my chest remained for the rest of the day and am worried about next session today.

Seriously, I over think EVERYTHING all of the time. I just need a way to stop everything in my head constantly chattering, it makes me almost paranoid sometimes. I just want to have fun but my brain won't let me, I can't go through with normal relationships because I'm in my head to much.
Is there like a tea I can drink? a song I can sing? a needle shoved into my arm?(acupuncture, not drugs)

I recently purchased an acupuncture pen. It uses battery power to send a low-grade electric wave into the acupuncture point, to simulate an acupuncture needle.
It really helps the tension, but I've recently discovered that I'm having more absence seizures since I've been using it. There is no warning label related to seizures, only pacemakers. Maybe it's just a coincidence, that they became more frequent. That's why I'm here asking you guys.
Does anyone here know if electricity can trigger a seizure?
Or maybe it's more plausible that my condition simply grew worse.
Thanks, Camelia.
I've never tried that, but I'll certainly look into it now. Thanks again

The AP said i had a floating pulse, red tongue, with bite marks on the sides, excessive yang, dampness, and excessive pent up greif and anger. He also said i had stagnant energy or malfunction at my "triple burner"
Well, in the middle of the session, my hands felt very strange and started tingling, and i laughed uncontrolably for about 30 mins.then he changed around the needles, and i softly cried for 10 mins, but i was still smiling. Iam no longer a skeptic in AP , this was amazing!!!!! but, why did i laugh like that?
i didnt fall asleep. i was awake the whole time

"There," I said, applying the last needle into your shoulder, "this shall release positive energies across your inflamed neck and upper back."
"The needle or the mini-corn dog?" you asked, confusedly.
I laughed at your little joke, then continued to apply olives, pickled herring, barbecue meatballs, and baby corn to the remainder of the needles.
"Uhm, what's going on? And who are all those people coming in?"
"Guests," I said, turning away to greet Yvonne and her fiancee, Ahmed. "Welcome! Let me take your coats..."
"But I'm not dressed!" you shrieked, trying to wiggle off the table. I hurriedly replaced a chunk of pepper-jack that had fallen off your forehead, and then tied a bow around your neck.
"Silly me, thanks for pointing that out," I said, as several dozen hungry guests circled you.
"I hope that's a vienna sausage," giggled Mitzi, plucking a morsel out of your gluteus maximus.
"I hope you've got a good lawyer!" you screamed.
Again, I laughed at your joke. What a time!
