On an inhibitator - Asastrozole - reduce excess estrogen - post menopause...62 yrs. always been very active and healthy. Found small cancer area in right breast. Eating very healthy as always but more vegetables, fruits & protein. gained lots of water -retention - Oncologist & I had a battle why I could not have water pill (temporarily to rid of water gain - 10 pds in 4 months). I know about the how it can affect the kidneys and blood pressures - but I have been on water pills in the past (when needed) and never affected my blood pressure (very good - 123/92) and kidneys excellent. I drink warm water w/lemon in the mornings and natural cranberry juice (no added sugars) with water all day...nothing....very unhappy with the weight gain. Exercise faithfully 3 x a week - Latino dancing, NIA workout classes, yoga, and walking. Going to Acupuncture once a week and meeting with a Specialist who uses massaging/acupuncture technique to help with immune system. Does anyone have suggestions who has gone through Cancer surgery and on an inhibitor to reduce estrogen but had weight (water retention mostly) gain and how or what did you take or do to rid of the excess weight/water retention? Very unhappy with weight gain after losing 14 pds before they found the cancer cells. Appreciate helpful suggestions!

Sore Neck Ice vs. Heat?

I think I pulled or strained a muscle in my neck about a year ago- the pain comes and goes. If I lift something the wrong way, it is not far away and it will come back- just an annoying soreness. I've read a lot about using heat but if there is inflammation, wouldn't an ice pack do a better job at relieving it? I have tried both and I tend to lean towards the ice pack but are there any hard & fast rules? I've also found acupuncture, Advil and massage to help. What is a good way to TREAT this as well- will a gentle work out routine build up other muscles so they are stronger and less likely to hurt? I want to go back to being strong and not have to worry all the time about my neck.

Which would be better for my back pain?

I have had a little bit of back pain for quite sometime but recently its been increasing more and more pain. But the pain is not hurting pain its more of a discomfort and pressurish pain. I was wondering what would be better to help my back pain, acupuncture or some kind of massage.

Has anyone suffered from chronic and severe plantar fasciitis pain?

I've spent thousands on shots, surgeries, shoe inserts, night splints, PT, acupuncture, massage, various running shoes, and walking boots. Finally my Primary care doc prescribed Tramadol. It was working pretty good for about 3 years but no longer works. It's hard just to walk around the house or play outside with my kids. I'm seriously considering oxycontin or methadone, but not sure if I want to "go down that road" or just continue to deal with it and accept that this is my lot in life.

Guillain – Barre Syndrome?

If somebody has Guillain - Barre syndrome ... is it helpful to have regular massage therapy? How about Acupuncture?

Breastfeeding survey?

Well as long as this evening's breastfeeding wars have commenced, let's add a little levity with this survey. Real answers only please. What's the oddest place you've breastfed your baby? I'll even start: during an acupuncture and massage appointment. (It worked a lot better with the needles than the hands!)
Since this is a "just for fun question," I'll give the best answer to the one with the most thumbs up when the time is up.

What colleges offer a Major in alternative medicine?

I would like to first go to a 2 year community college then transfer to a four year school to recieve my bachelors degree.
I am very interested in alternative medicine though i can't seem to find a college/university in or close to new york that offers this as a major.
I do know there are subfeilds within this, such as aromatheropy, acupuncture, massage, chiropratics and so on but i really want a degree in the field itself.
Are there any colleges that offer this?
Eri: I don't appreciate the thought of people answering my question with negative opinions, because basically thats all it it, an opinion, studies have proven the effects of these alternative medicines working while accepted medicine didn't work. it is considered alternative, because people do not believe it works, while medicine used today has more of a social standing. I asked for a college, not what you think about the topic.
