Hi. My mom made me an appointment for acupuncture in a few weeks because I have bad leg pain for reasons unknown. And I have a few questions -

1. what does it do, and does it really relieve pain?

2. our acupuntuist said for kids they use 'patches'. have you heard of this?

3. What are the needles like?

Thanks so much!

  1. Starkissed says:

    1. Acupuncture works by targeting pressure points. I had it a few times for my fibromyalgia but my lower back pain was so severe I don’t know if it helped (more than a massage would have).

    2. Never heard of patches.

    3. The needles are about 3-4 inches long. They come in a tube thing that the person will place on your skin and then with a quick tap on the end of the tube the needle will go into your skin. Then they will adjust the needle to the right depth.

It’s not too bad, just don’t move around cause that can make it pinch.
